ISLAMABAD, March 13: The Islamabad police have failed to trace Capt (retd) Sharjeel allegedly involved in child molestation cases.

Station House Officer (SHO) Golra police station Naeem Iqbal told Dawn on Saturday that a police party had raided two places but the accused was not found there. He said the last news about the accused was that he was somewhere in Nazimabad, Karachi, and was trying to secure bail before arrest from the Sindh High Court.

Mr Iqbal said the Lahore High Court had granted bail before arrest to the accused but he did not appear in the court on the next date on which the district and sessions judge cancelled his bail and directed the police to arrest him when he entered the court. After securing bail before arrest, the accused visited the houses of some of the victims and pressured them to withdraw the cases.

The same day the accused along with his sister-in-law and lawyer visited the house of Khurram Yasin at Naval Colony and tried to abduct him along with his brother from Bari Imam. Mr Iqbal said the accused ran away before they could reach the house of the victim.

Mr Iqbal said he was in touch with Mr Sharjeel through mobile phone and trying to convince him to surrender. He said the accused had told him that he had not done anything wrong and the families of the students of the National Cadet College (NCC) were trying to fix him.
