KARACHI, March 12: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation on Friday made arrangements to ensure that the National Stadium receive uninterrupted power supply.

A KESC spokesman said the National Stadium would be energized from at least three directions. He recalled that the entire power network in and around the stadium had been reinforced two years ago.

He said a team of KESC engineers would be on duty to handle any emergency situation.

He said that, more importantly, the power utility had made arrangements to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the city where hundreds and thousands of people would watch the match on TV.

He said all KESC offices would be open and all previously scheduled shutdowns had been cancelled.

BREAKDOWN: The spokesman said that some localities, including Garden, Jacob Lines, Saddar and Soldier Bazaar, had been without electricity from 3.30pm to 6.30pm. He added that during the interval KESC engineers switched these areas from an alternative network to the main system.

He recalled that over 93,000 KESC consumers lost their power supply when a ground excavator of the FWO working on Korangi Road damaged the 132-KV extra high tension main power supply cable linking two grid stations in Jacob Lines and Garden on Monday.
