LAHORE, Feb 28: Governor Khalid Maqbool visited city's General Post Office here on Saturday and said he would recommend to the federal finance ministry to allow the post offices to issue Behbood Certificates to the widows and old people.

He said that post office has been part and parcel of Pakistani culture and people trusted its functioning. That was why the people preferred to pay their utility bills at the post offices.

He expressed his satisfaction over the renovation of the GPO building which was constructed 100 years ago and said it was a national duty to preserve this landmark.

The governor visited different departments of the GPO and heard proposals from people regarding the improvement in the postal services.

Pakistan Postal Services Management Board Chairman Maj-Gen Agha Masoodul Hasan (retired) and Punjab Postmaster-General Pervaiz Askari briefed the governor about the postal services.

The governor later visited the Post Mall in Gulberg where all postal services are being provided under one window.

GERMAN DELEGATION: German Parliament's Standing Committee for South Asia member Klaus Warner Jonas called on the governor at the Governor's House.

Accompanied by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry's former president Yawar Irfan and other investors, Mr Jonas discussed with the governor steps that could improve trade relations between Pakistan and Germany.
