MIRPURKHAS, Feb 21: Members of the Bheel community took out a procession here on Saturday to protest against kidnapping of a minor girl from Padri village, Sanghar taluka , allegedly by some members of the Christian community.

Led by Long Ram, Parkhomal and Jay Ram of the Sindh Bheel Beradri Mazahimati Tehrik, the protesters carried banners and placards and raised slogans for recovery of the girl, Nazeeran, 14, daughter of Atmo Bheel.

Marching on main roads, they reached the local press club where they held a protest demonstration.

Speaking to the protesters, their leaders alleged Nazeeran was kidnapped by accused Babar Masih, Joseph Masih and Father Kane on Feb 16, but the Sanghar police had refused to register a case.

Later, speaking at a press conference, the leaders alleged that the police was providing the accused with an opportunity to arrange the marriage of the minor girl with a Christian youth.

They demanded that the Sindh police chief and chief justice should order a judicial investigation into the matter and ensure the recovery of the kidnapped girl besides registration of an FIR and arrest of the accused.
