SUKKUR: Rockets hit rangers' post

SUKKUR, Jan 31: Outlaws launched an armed attack on rangers check posts and villages on the Sindh-Balochistan and Sindh- Punjab border on Friday night.

More than 30 men attacked check posts of rangers on the Sindh-Balochistan and Sindh-Punjab borders established to safeguard the Sui gas pipeline and two villages Ghulam Hussain Mazari and Shah Dost Mazari.

The attackers fired 15 rockets out of which eight landed near rangers posts, while seven near the Mazari village.

In retaliation rangers and villagers also opened fire and an exchange of fire lasted for hours.

The rockets hit houses of Mahiwal Mazari and Pheroo Mazari due to which their houses collapsed and two buffaloes and one goat were killed. No human casualty was reported.

The Punjab rangers closed the Kashmore-Sui road from 8pm to 6am to avert causalities. The road on the Sindh-Punjab border was also closed due to which passengers faced great difficulties.

The Kashmor police closed theroad leading to Punjab and Balochistan. Roads passing through Sui check post, Zero point check post, Dakhan Bungalow check post and 109 Willayat post were also closed.

SIT-IN: Passengers of a Quetta-bound bus staged a sit-in on the Shikarpur Road after the looting by highwaymen on Wednesday night.

The bus on its route from Karachi to Quetta when reached near Deho village, the armed men stopped it and deprived all the passengers of gold ornaments, cash and wristwatches.
