RAWALPINDI, Jan 10: The Democratic Group won Rawalpindi Bar Association (RBA) elections on Saturday. Ghazanfar Ali Shah of the group was elected president with 500 votes against 431 votes of his opponent Sardar Abdul Majeed.

Out of the total 1,248 votes, 948 were cast. The polling started at 8am and continued till 4pm.

Abdur Rashid, who scored 484 votes, was elected vice-president while his opponent Chaudhry Younas Ghumman got 431 votes.

Mumtaz Ahmed bagged 485 votes and was elected general secretary. His rival Shahid Mehmood Abbasi managed to get 453 votes, while Sajid Yousaf Mirza was elected joint secretary with 536 votes.
