FAISALABAD, April 24: The MMA leaders will stage a protest demonstration in front of DPO offices and court their arrests on May 3 if the arrested workers and leaders are not released before the deadline. Talking to reporters here on Sunday, MMA District President Sardar Zafar Husain alleged that the local administration and police had played the role of personal employees of rulers.

He said concocted cases of terrorism were registered against the MMA leaders not only in Faisalabad but also in other cities of the province.

The alliance leader claimed that most of MMA leaders implicated in terrorism cases were in police custody prior to various ‘crimes’. Scores of activists were rounded up from their houses but they were declared terrorist.

Criticizing the government policies, he said that some army generals in their bid to achieve their ulterior motives had pushed the country towards a point of no return. The military regime was now hatching a conspiracy to withdraw from the decades old stand on the Kashmir issue.

Zafar Husain said the insult of parliamentarians in Brussels was a stigma on the faces of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, who were claiming cordial relations with the developed countries.

He asked the PPP leaders to stop talks with the government and the establishment because it had earlier dodged the MMA over the uniform issue.

Replying to a question, MMA leaders alleged that country’s judicial set up had become questionable.
