Anti-polio campaign from 26th

LAHORE, April 23: The Punjab Health Department is holding a three-day anti-polio vaccination campaign from April 26. The department has set a target of vaccinating 14.38 million children under five years against polio. They will also be orally administered Vitamin-A drops.

The department has provided 18 million doses of anti-polio vaccine, 13.554 million Vitamin-A capsules (red) and 2.214 million Vitamin-A capsules (blue).

It has constituted 36,056 mobile teams, which will go from door to door in the allotted areas and vaccinate the children. In order to monitor the campaign, the department has also posted 5,910 officials in charge of areas, 1,084 zonal supervisors, 114 tehsil supervisors, 175 district monitors and provincial health authorities concerned.

To educate the vaccinators, the department has also provided the teams with 69,351 training booklets in Urdu and 1.063 million posters.

Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed reviewed arrangements for the campaign. He called upon the parents and teachers to play their due role in ensuring eradication of polio from the country.

He said the government would soon launch a campaign against hepatitis B and C.
