MMA for closure of theatres

Published April 20, 2005

GUJRANWALA, April 19: The MMA will not let the government promote ‘obscenity and european culture’ in the country under the garb of marathon races. This was said by arrested MNA Maulana Qazi Hamidullah while talking to the press at DHQ hospital here on Tuesday. He was shifted from Sahiwal jail to Gujranwala along with his son Mufti Kafaitullah on Monday night on the orders of the chief minister.

He demanded that the district administration should close all theatres in the city. He said the MMA activists who had been detained under 16-MPO by police some two weeks ago were being released following acceptance of their demands.

Meanwhile, MMA district president Maulana Ali Ahmad Jami and other office-bearers, including Maulana Syed Abdul Malik Shah, Maulana Obaidul Rehman Madni, Maulana Obaidullah and Maulana Nasir Ahmad Awaisi, visited the DHQ hospital and inquired after Qazi Hamidullah and his son.
