SKARDU, April 18: Japanese Ambassador Nobuaki Tanaka and Mrs Muriel Tanaka visited two cultural projects in Baltistan, sources told Dawn here on Monday. The asmbassador, who had arrived here on a two-day visit on Sunday with his wife, visited the historic Shigar, which has been recently renovated by the Aga Khan Cultural Services and converted into a hotel.
The guests were briefed about the renovation and conservation of the fort.
The ambassador also visited Khaplu, the district headquarters of Ghanche, where he inspected the upgradation projects launched by the AKCS.
He also visited the 500-year old beautiful Khaplu Fort and enjoyed the panoramic view of Khaplu Saling and Machulu villages.
