PESHAWAR, April 16: Known lawyer Qazi Mohammad Anwar has rejected a demand made by Pakistan Muslim League leader Salim Saifullah Khan for preventing MPA Malik Imran from casting vote in the Senate by-election and said that the matter is pending before a court.

Flanked by his client Imran and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) parliamentary leader in the NWFP Assembly Anwar Kamal Khan, Mr Anwar was speaking at a press conference here on Friday.

A petition of Mr Saifullah, challenging the victory of Mr Imran on a provincial assembly seat in the general elections, was pending before the Peshawar High Court, he said. “We are determined to continue the legal battle at each and every judicial forum,” he added.

The lawyer rejected the claim made by Mr Saifullah about the education degree of Mr Imran and said that it was not a fake degree.

He said that the director of the Anti-Corruption establishment, Karachi, had sent a letter to the controller of examination of the Karachi University for verifying the degree and the controller, within half an hour, had declared that the degree was bogus.

However, he said, there was a different procedure of issuing degrees in the university and only its registrar’s office could say anything about validity of a degree.

He added that they had filed an appeal in the Sindh High Court for taking a notice of the ACE director’s letter to the controller of examinations and

his reply.
