SUKKUR, April 15: A large number of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal activists staged a demonstration in Kandhkot on Friday to protest against raids on MMA offices and arrests of alliance’s leaders and workers. Speaking on the occasion, deputy chief of Jamaat-i-Islami MNA Asadullah Bhutto, who is also president of MMA Sindh, strongly condemned the arrest of People’s Party workers and their forcible stoppage from proceeding to Lahore to welcome Asif Ali Zardari.

He said Asif Zardari was a citizen of Pakistan and no hurdles should be posed in his return. The MMA leader, however, said the PPP should decide whether it was interested in launching a movement against the government or wanted reconciliation with it. He also demanded immediate release of PPP leaders and workers.
