KARACHI, April 15: Brisk berthing activity was observed at the port where three ships carrying containers and edible oil were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Friday. Berth occupancy stood at 67 per cent as seven ships, Contship Indigo, Oranje, Lugano, Gold Carrier, Lucas, Iran Yazd and Gemini, were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, general cargo, wheat and edible oil.

A cargo volume of 59,741 tons comprising 37,365 tons of import cargo and 22,376 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only one ship, Contship Indigo, left the port while Oranje, Lugano and Lucas were due to depart.

Two ships, Amasis and Genco Leader, were due to take berths at QICT and Steel Jetty. A chemical carrier, Nur Yanbu, was due to arrive at the port.
