FAISALABAD, April 7: The Faisalabad anti-terrorism court on Thursday extended the judicial remand of PML-N former MNA Mian Abdul Mannan and 31 leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) for four days. Police produced Mian Mannan, district MMA president Sardar Zafar Husain, district Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam amir Sajid Farooqi, city Jamaat-i-Islami amir Prof Mahboobuz Zaman Butt, MMA secretary-general Javed Malik, Islami Jamiat Talaba Nazim Rana Amjad Husain, Faisalabad Shabab-i-Milli president Muhammad Nawaz, Rana Waheed, Dr Saeed, Sikadar Ali, Zaki Ahmad, Dr Ghulam Murtaza, Rai Akram Kharal, Saleh Akbar Khan, Abul Hasan, Shabbir Husain and others before the court.

Tight security arrangements were made around the ATC to avoid any untoward incident. Scores of PML-N and MMA activists were present outside the court.

Counsel for the PML-N leader filed a bail application but the court adjourned hearing for April 9.

He submitted before the court that Mian Mannan was arrested after three days of the registration of case and he was not involved in any terrorism activity. The police arrested him to pressurize the opposition and to stop them from raising voice against the misdeeds of the government.

The court adjourned the hearing of main case of the terrorism for April 12.

Similarly, the MMA leaders’ counsel blamed the government and its agencies

for arresting the religious leaders without any cogent reason.

However, the court extended the judicial remand of all the accused till April 12.
