Army in last eight

KARACHI, April 6: Habib Bank (HBL) reached All-Pakistan PTCL floodlit football quarterfinals despite a 1-2 loss to Pakistan Army at Dring Sadium, Bahawlpur on Tuesday night.

According to details available here, HBL qualified on better goal average, while Army also moved ahead with full points.

Abdul Qayyum opened the account for HBL after a pass from Shahid Saleem in the sixth minute before soldiers equalised through Babar Mahmood five minutes before halftime.

Sajjad grabbed the match-winner for Army after being set up by Majid in the 80th minute.

In another match, Pakistan Air Force crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Islamabad.

After a goalless first session, Islamabad stunned the airmen when they took the lead in the 52nd minute through Qasim who slammed home off a rebound from PAF goalkeeper Khalid. Majeed doubled the ascendancy after Qasim fed him a perfect pass two minutes later.

PAF scored the solitary goal via Mohammad Saleh after a pass from Arshad Jan in the 80th minute.
