Soomro slams NAB

JACOBABAD, April 5: Former speaker of the National Assembly Illahi Bux Soomro has said that there is a lot of interference from the centre in provincial matters which is violation of the constitution. Speaking at a seminar on ?violence against women? here on Monday, Mr Soomro said the National Accountability Bureau was a politically-motivated organization which served the interests of politicians.

The seminar was organized by the Pakistan Press Foundation.

He said the bureaucracy had played havoc with the lives of people.

He said there were thousands of ghost schools which had been a meeting place for feudal lords.

Nazim UC Thul Mehboob Soomro said honour killing was an imported tradition and it was not a part of Sindh?s culture.

He said killing in the name of karo-kari was a murder and it should be stopped.

He said feudal lords were supporting karo-kari to maintain the status quo.

The nazim called upon the NGOs to play their due role to get rid of karo-kari.

Shahid Mansoor and Mumtaz Mangrio also spoke on the occasion.

TWO INJURED: Two people were injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a van on the Quetta road here on Tuesday.

The injured were identified as Sohail Soomro and Nadeem Soomro. The condition of Sohail Soomro is said to be critical.

The enraged relatives of Mr Soomro protested against non-availability of medicines and absence of doctors.
