DADU, April 5: Anti-Corruption Establishment sleuths raided the offices of the district food controller (DFC), Dadu and detected misappropriation amounting to lacs of rupees in issuance of wheat quota and license to the mill owners. The ACE team led by inspector Zakir Hussain Samo conducted the raids in presence of first civil judge Dadu, Mr Fareed Anwar Qazi. The team reportedly detected forgery in cash books, other relevant records and found misappropriation of Rs300,000.
The ACE official told reporters that a junior clerk of the district food department, Gulshan Solangi, was made head clerk with a motive to misappropriation while issuing wheat quota and license to mill owners.
Mr Samo further said that the head clerk had not deposited money in the bank or treasury during last three years.
He said that eight employees of DFC office had recorded their statements against Gulshan Solangi claiming that Mr Solangi was responsible for the embezzlement who had also stolen some relevant files.
He said that he had submitted a detailed report to the high officials of anti-corruption department seeking approval for registration of case.
Meanwhile, secretary food has suspended the DFC Dadu, Syed Warand Ali Shah and posted Ziauddin Shaikh in his place.
Director food Sindh, Dr Tanvir Ahmed Qureshi, has constituted a two-member audit committee.
The newly-appointed DFC said that committee has started an audit detecting a misappropriation amounting to Rs300,000.
