ZTBL triumph

Published April 5, 2005

KARACHI, April 4: Fine batting by Raheel Majeed, Naved Latif and Zahoor Elahi led ZTBL to a three-wicket win in the Patron’s Cup Pool ‘A’ match against Allied Bank at the UBL Sports Complex on Monday. Raheel followed his 129 against KPT on Sunday with a boundary-laden 94 off 81 deliveries that included 14 fours. But it was the 119-run partnership between Naved (86 off 91 balls, three fours and one six) and Zahoor (62 off 56 balls, six fours and one six) that sealed ABL’s fate.

Despite being set a challenging target of 296, ZTBL were home with as many as 38 balls to spare.

Earlier, skipper Ijaz Ahmed Jr made 80 off 74 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes as ABL made 295 for eight after being put into bat.
