SWABI, April 4: President Gen Pervez Musharraf, who is the Chancellor of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, has appointed Dr Abdullah Sadiq as rector of the institute. The GIK Institute is a centre of excellence where students from across the country and abroad have been receiving engineering education in different disciplines. Dr Sadiq, who is the fifth rector of the GIK Institute,

is an internationally-renowned scientist having a distinguished academic and professional career.

He got his PhD from the University of Illinois, USA. He joined the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and retired towards the end of 2003 as chief scientist.

He was also the founding rector of Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). Currently, he is Scientist Emeritus in the PAEC.
