SUKKUR, April 2: A man, Farid Shaikh, threw acid over his wife, daughter and brother-in-law on Saturday due to which they were injured seriously.

Police said Manzooran, the wife of Farid Shaikh, had become fed up of her domestic dispute and gone to live with her parents.

Farid, a resident of Rohri, went to the house of his in-laws and asked his wife to accompany him to their house. On her refusal, he threw acid over Manzooran, his five-year-old daughter Sonia and brother-in-law Attaullah.

The injured were admitted to the Sukkur civil hospital where their condition was said to be critical.

Accused fled after committing the crime.

BOY KILLED: A 16-year-old boy, Ghulam Shabbir Jaffery, was gunned down by five armed men in the Jamaluddin Jaffery village in the Tangwani police area on the pretext of karo-kari on Friday.

Police said Ghulam Shabbir was on way when some five armed men appeared on the scene and shot him dead and fled.

Police said the murder was a result of karo-kari and one Azad Jaffery and four of his accomplices were booked but no arrest was reported.

PROTEST: All schools of the Kandhkot taluka remained close on the second consecutive day on Friday following the murder of schoolteacher Abdul Sami Soomro.

Meanwhile, the irrigation employees observed a pen-down strike to protest against kidnapping of SDO Dur Mohammad.
