LAHORE, April 2: Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat on Saturday said the MMA strike was a flop show, establishing that people were not ready to become a part of nasty political game of the alliance.

In a statement issued here, he said the flow of traffic and people’s presence at their workplaces proved that they had rejected the strike call by the MMA.

The minister said the MMA should have learnt a lesson from the failure of its so-called million march. But, instead, it staged the drama of wheel jam which majority people ignored.

He said the MMA leadership should have judged the mood of people and understood their problems, and refrain from such negative activities which could hamper normal life.

The minister said negative actions like strikes did not provide any solution to any problem and people had proved it by rejecting the MMA strike call.

The MMA should uphold democratic traditions and quit the politics of confusion and chaos for the sake of public welfare. Understanding and compromise were the essential features of democracy whereas rallies, strikes and processions could seriously affect the financial and economic progress of the country.

He said the Pakistani nation would have to adopt moderation instead of extremism in all walks of life, including politics, so that problems of the people could be solved. —Staff Reporter
