KARACHI, April 1: Four ships carrying containers, chemicals and diesel oil were allotted berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Friday. Meanwhile, three more ships, Ace-7, Ville De Mars and Aurora, also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy stood at 78 per cent as nine ships, Oranje, CMA CGM Kingston, Jordan, Al Manakah, Tainyo Feng, Al Maqwa, Sinar Sabang, Shintoku and Yong Feng, were busy in loading and offloading containers, wheat, edible oil, chemicals and coal.

Cargo handling activity was brisk as the total tonnage handled rose to 110,192 tons comprising 95,232 tons of import cargo and 14,960 tons of export tonnage.

Sailing was also active as CMA CGM Kingston and Oranje, Al-Manakh and Shintoku left the port while Jordan and Sinar Sabang were due to depart. Five ships, Lady Jasmine, Glory, Gold Carrier, Rosa-M and Merker Beach were expected to reach the port on Saturday.
