KABUL, March 29: A roadside bomb exploded in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, wounding six soldiers of the National Army, while two US soldiers were injured in a separate incident, officials said. The device exploded as the Afghan soldiers were on their way from Asadabad to Nawabad in Kunar province, defence ministry spokesman Mohammed Zahir Azimi told AFP.

The blast was caused by a remote-controlled bomb planted at the roadside and happened around 12am, Mr Azimi added. In the other incident, two US soldiers were wounded when they came under small arms attack after suspected militants detonated an improvised explosive device near Tarin Kot strict in south-central Uruzgan province, the US military said. The soldiers were evacuated to Kandahar and were in stable condition, it said in a statement.—AFP
