Golden League series

PARIS, May 30: Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco and American sprinter Marion Jones will contest all seven of this season’s Golden League meetings, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) announced Thursday.

Winners of the Golden League series can eventually pick up 50kg of gold - an objective that El Guerrouj may boost with his plan to attack the world records for the mile at the opening Bislett Games meeting in Oslo on 28 June, and the 1500m the following Friday at the Stade de France.

Golden League schedule:

June 28: Oslo

July 5: Saint-Denis

July 12: Rome

July 19: Monaco

Aug 16: Zurich

Aug 30: Brussels

Sept 6: Berlin

NB: Athletes must compete in the Grand Prix Final (Paris, Sept 14) to claim a share of the Jackpot.—AFP
