Hussain emerges winner: Golf

KARACHI, March 27: Tariq Hussain emerged winner in the main event of amateurs category with a net score of 61 on the final day of the Caltex Golf Championship 2005 played at the Karachi Golf Club on Sunday, according to a Press release.

Zafar A Khan triumphed in the net category (Guests) with a score of 72. Arshad I.A. Khan was the runner-up net with 74 Nets in the same contest.

In the main event played

on the same day, Zahid F Ibrahim clinched the runners-up net with 67 net, Tariq Hussain was the winner with 61 net. Cdr. Ansar Mehmood won the runners-up gross with 76 and Rizwan Feroze secured winner gross with 76 gross.

Earlier, on Saturday four events were decided in the Ladies, Juniors, Veterans, and Seniors category.

Shireen Khan 70 Net and Saba Iqbal 86 Gross won the ladies title.

Saad Zubair Net 75, Gross 99 clinched the juniors event, while M Z K Burki won both the Net and Gross events in the veterans category.

Seniors was grabbed by Syed Ali Net 69 and Anwar Jan Babar gross 77.

The prizes were distributed by the Minister for Privatization Mr A Hafeez Shaikh.

Subsidiary prizes: Asghar Ali- (closest to pin, red hole no 3 5ft), Ahmad Abdul Bari (closet to Blue hole No 4 3ft 10ins)
