Cantonment board

KARACHI, March 28: Residents of Gulistan-i-Jauhar?s block-19, which lies under the administrative jurisdiction of Cantonment Board Faisal, demanded the authorities to take immediate steps for widening of main road and construction of footpaths in their area for smooth flow of traffic and convenience of pedestrians.

Office-bearers of various welfare organizations at a meeting on Monday pointed out that they had presented several suggestions to the cantonment board and the same were approved in principle by the CBF. However, they regretted that the cantonment board authorities had not taken any step so far to materialize their commitments.

According to them, CBF authorities had promised to install streetlights in Gulistan-i-Jauhar areas falling under their jurisdiction but the plan has not been materialized even after the lapse of a whole year. They complained that besides chances of accidents at night, the incidents of dacoities and robberies had increased manifolds due to darkness.

The participants of the meeting pointed out that the cantonment board had not even developed any playground, park, library, dispensary or any other welfare project in the area. No step had been taken for the last several years for carpeting of the internal roads of Block-19, they added.

?CBF authorities had announced to establish sub-offices of the cantonment board, stores, remodeling of blind turnings but so far they have nothing for the welfare of area people,? the meeting observed and demanded CBF authorities to fulfil its promises.

They appealed to CBF Executive Officer to pay attention towards the problems facing by area people as in other areas, city government officials were carrying out extraordinary development activities.?PPI
