FAISALABAD, March 24: Four children and a youth suffered burns when a bag containing fireworks exploded at Shamspura in the area of Jaranwala police station, which is about 42 kilometres from here, on Thursday night. Reports said a group of children and youngsters was flying kites and using fireworks at a house at Shamspura, Jaranwala tehsil. All of a sudden the bag containing the fireworks caught fire and exploded due to which four of the children and a youth suffered burns.

The injured, Muhammad Altaf (25), Iqra Perveen (8), Ali Raza (5), Owais Ahmad (4) and Shaaban Ahmad (10), were immediately shifted to the Allied Hospital where one of them was stated to be in critical condition. Shot dead: A youth shot dead his friend, claiming that he had uttered objectionable remarks for the Holy Prophet (PBUH), in Chibban village on Thursday.

Reports said two friends Liaqat Ali, 22 and Muhammad Nadeem exchanged hot words, and Nadeem, in a fit of rage, shot at Liaqat, claiming he had uttered offensive remarks against the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and escaped.

Police shifted the injured to the Allied Hospital, where he died during treatment. DPO Muhammad Amin Wains told journalists that the causes of the killing could be ascertained after the arrest of the accused, for which a police team had been constituted.
