QUETTA, March 23: Torrents coming from the hills north of Balochistan inundated 50 more villages on Wednesday, raising the number of affected areas to 350. Torrents also damaged a seven-kilometer section of the road from Dera Murad Jamali to Chittar. Besides, railway tracks between Nautal and Dera Murad Jamali have been flooded as a result of which railway traffic remains suspended. Special railway teams are waiting with heavy machinery to carry out repair work as soon as the water recedes.

The district Nazim, Mir Muhammad Amin Umrani, said that the Rabi Canal had been breached at three points due to flash floods.

He said that the Irrigation department of Nasirabad was constructing a protective bund to protect Dera Murad Jamali and Uchh power plants from being flooded.—APP
