KARACHI, March 23: Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) President Pir Pagara on Wednesday expressed his apprehension about imposition of Governor’s rule in Sindh any time. Pir Pagara, who was responding to questions by a group of journalists at the Race Course Club on Wednesday, said: “Although President Musharraf is saying that general elections will be held in 2007, martial law may be imposed again in in the country.

He also ruled out holding of local bodies elections in April next and said if some journalists and people were with the government in the province, it does not mean that situation is under control. “The governor’s rule can be imposed any moment.”

When asked if he could play the role of a mediator to defuse tension in Balochistan, the PML-F chief expressed his inability and pointed out that only a Baloch, who was well acquainted with Baloch temperament, could play the role of an arbitrator in the given situation in Balochsitan.

He expressed his ignorance about possibility of any foreign hand in the deterioration of the situation. But, he added, the Balochistan problem alone could not be a threat to President Musharraf, but if other fronts also activated at the same time, issues could be a threat to the system.
