KARACHI, May 30: An alleged bandit was killed by police in what they claimed was an encounter in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday morning.

Police said that four armed dacoits broke into Dr Ashfaq’s house in Block 13-D, Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

They held the family hostage at gunpoint and started collecting valuables.

Police said a family member managed to inform the police on emergency number 15. As the police reached the spot, a car (ABR- 061) sped away from the front of the house.

When the police challenged the dacoits, they opened fire. One dacoit got killed as the police returned fire, while his other two accomplices managed to escape.

CARJACKING: At least 18 vehicles — ten cars and eight motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from various parts of the city on Thursday.

Five cars were hijacked and five others were stolen, while one motorcycle was hijacked and eight were stolen from different parts of the city.

The police also claimed the recovery of four cars and two motorcycles on Thursday.
