He was speaking at a briefing on the law and order situation in tribal agencies of Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Orakzai, Kurram, North Waziristan and South Waziristan.

The political agents informed the governor about the security environment and development process in their agencies, said a handout issued after the briefing. The governor discussed at length the situation in North and South Waziristan Agencies, particularly the problem of foreign elements there. He asked the political officers to speed up efforts aimed at rooting out foreign elements from their areas.

On another occasion, the governor asked transporters to improve their network aimed at facilitating commuters. He asked them to abolish the trend of strikes.

Talking to a 20-member delegation of transporters, which called on him under the leadership of MPA Nighat Orakzai at the Governor’s House, Mr Rehman said that transport sector had a direct impact on the day-to-day life of people.

Therefore, he maintained, the transporters should make special efforts to upgrade the standard of their services.
