KARACHI, March 19: Due to repair by the KESC at the Dhabeji Pumping Station Phase-2, and K-2 Pumping Station from 11am to 1pm, the city would get 25 million gallon less water on Sunday. A press release of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board issued here on Saturday stated that the effects of water shortage would be felt on Monday. It said that the KESC had asked for a two-hour break to maintain and repair its grid station at Dhabeji.

The KWSB has appealed to the citizens to consume water conservatively.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Secretary Mohammad Aslam Sinjarani on Saturday directed Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) authorities to take immediate steps for compensating shortage of water and improving sewerage system in various localities of Karachi.

Mr Sinjarani issued these directives on complaints from the residents of Korangi, B area and asked the KWSB officials to form a monitoring team to address problems facing people of the area.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary, Mohammed Aslam Sanjrani, has directed officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to take immediate steps for improving water supply in areas where supply was short, as well as, improving the sewerage conditions.

He directed that a regular system of monitoring water supply and sewerage disposal be organised on effective lines so that complaints in this regard could be addressed. He issued the directive on request of people offering prayers at Jamia Masjid Hanfia, Korangi B Area and residents of East B-Area, Korangi. — PPI/ APP
