KARACHI, March 19: The Hizbul Tehreer (HT), a banned Islamic organization in Pakistan, working for the revival of Khilafat, on Saturday accused President Pervez Musharraf of mangling Islamic teachings under the garb of enlightened moderation.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, HT activist Dr Ismail Sheikh, recently acquitted by the Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi of charges of holding demonstration against the US invasion of Iraq, alleged that the government was harbouring the capitalist system.

He vowed that their struggle shall last till a revolution came. He alleged that Musharraf was using the notion of enlightened moderation to subdue the overwhelming majority. — PPI
