QUETTA, March 18: Two persons were killed and 10 others, three of them women, were injured on Friday when bombs exploded in two passenger trains running between Quetta and Sibi. According to railway authorities, the first blast took place in an economy class bogey of the Quetta-bound Chiltan Express coming from Lahore. The bomb, planted in the toilet, exploded when the train was between Mach and Hirak. One person was killed on the spot and six others were injured. “The man killed in the train blast was an army personnel,” sources said and identified him as Mehboob Alam who was coming from Faisalabad.

The second blast occurred after about two hours in the Lahore-bound Chiltan Express going from Quetta. The bomb, also planted in the toilet of an economy class bogey, went off between Dhadar and Sibi at about 5.30pm, killing one passenger and injuring four others.

“The man killed in the Lahore-bound train was in the toilet when the bomb exploded,” passenger Rashida Bibi told reporters in Sibi hospital.
