KARACHI, May 30: Four ships including car carrier Dresden carrying 112 units are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the wharves was well above the average figure at 100 per cent on the oil piers and 54 per cent on the dry wharves thanks to steady arrivals.

Seven ships, Kota Sabas, Safe Marine Athi, Winco Feeder, Lisboa to unload and load containers, Star Liber to offload soyabean oil, Gulf Grace to offload gas oil and Skow Hegan to load naptha were berthed.

Sailing on the other hand was slow as only Jamila departed after loading containers for various destinations. However, Friday awaits a heavy sailing schedule as nine ships are due to depart including Safe Marine Athi, Malakand, Lisboa, Winco Feeder, Lady Nie, Gulf Trader, Mol Sincerity, Skow Hegan and Sark Trader.

Cargo handling figure was normal because of larger handling of the liquid tonnage, rising to 77,935 tong comprising 26,954 tons of export cargo including 20,000 tons of molasses and 50,981 tons of imported commodities.

The following ships are due on Friday: Dresden, with 112 vehicles, Conti Valencia, with containers, Almar and Fersey, with steel coils.
