QUETTA, March 15: Saboteurs tried on Thursday night to blow up the main railway track linking Quetta with the rest of the country.

Reports reaching here said that unknown people had planted dynamite on the track near Mach, about 75km east of here. An explosion rocked the small coal-mine town, but caused no damage to the railway line. Only a wooden slipper was slightly damaged.

Official sources told Dawn on telephone that two more explosive devices had been found on the same track.

Railway traffic was not affected as Pakistan Railways has already stopped night train service between Quetta and other cities.

“The damaged slipper has been changed,” Railway officials in Mach said.

It was the second incident in Mach in three days in which people tried to blow up railway track and disrupt train service.

Meanwhile, a rocket was fired from Sariab area which landed and exploded in an open place on the Kach Road in the Quetta cantonment area. The rocket did not cause any casualty or damage.
