MITHI, March 13: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that his government is not facing any political crisis.

He was talking to reporters in Chhachhro town after attending the wedding of a brother of MPA Abdul Razzaq Rahmo on Sunday.

He said implementation of the Thar package had been delayed because of some departments were lacking knowledge of schemes to be included in the package.

He said a vast network of roads, electrification, water supply, small dams, tube-wells, upgradation of hospitals, educational institutes, promotion of tourism, provision of soft term loans and number of other development schemes were being included in the package for which the federal government had released funds.

The chief minister said subsidized wheat announced by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for Tharis had arrived in godowns of the district.

He said the distribution could not start because of tenders for transportation of commodity had not been issued.

When it was brought to his notice that Asif Zardari was returning on April 16, Dr Arbab said: “he is arriving in Punjab and not in Sindh”.

“We are ready to accept him provided the establishment accepts him” he added.

PPP: Sindh People’s Party Parliamentarians president Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday observed that the government had offered talks to the PPP because it had failed to tackle the country’s affairs.

He told a public meeting here that incompetence and wrong policies of the rulers had increased lawlessness, inflation and poverty in the country.

Mr Shah noted that corruption had also increased in the Gen Musharraf regime though he had claimed when he had taken over that he would root out corruption.

He regretted that the rulers before the by-election in Thar had promised a huge development package for the region but nothing had been done to alleviate miseries of people of the drought-hit area. He said supply of subsidized wheat to people of Thar, as pledged by the government, had not been started. He alleged irregularities in distribution of 70,000 relief wheat bags among people of Thar.

Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani, Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Wali Mohammad Rahoomo and others also spoke on the occasion.
