KARACHI, March 12: The National Trade Union Federation of Pakistan has urged all the progressive, nationalists, and worker-friendly forces to join hands with it for the launching of a struggle for the restoration of democracy in the country.

A resolution in this regard was adopted at the central committee meeting of the federation on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by NTUFP chief Saleem Raza.

The meeting resolved that a permanent platform would be formed for the launching of the struggle in an organized manner to rid the country of military rulers and restore the country’s status as a truly federal state.

The resolution accused the military rulers of continuing to capture all resources of the country, and observed that this was affecting the poor masses. It deplored that fishermen in Sindh, particularly those living in Badin, had been deprived of their livelihood by the Rangers whereas peasant families of Okara farms who had been farming the lands for nearly a century were being dislodged from their lands.

“In urban areas, uniformed people have been posted in major industrial organizations and under their supervision, vital national assets are being auctioned, rather disposed of at rock bottom prices,” the resolution said.

It also condemned that mineral resources of Balochistan were being taken away. “A woman was subjected to criminal assault in that province, but people of Balochistan are being denied justice and due rights.”

It also criticized the military operation being carried out in Wana and FATA areas.
