Measures to check illegal trade

BEIJING, March 11: Pakistan and China have agreed to take tough measures to check illegal border trade.

In this connection, a Pakistani delegation led by Member Customs Central Board of Revenue Mohammad Ramzan Bhatti held detailed discussions with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing this week.

The two sides reached an understanding for enforcing necessary measures to check illegal trade, including under-invoicing. They were agreed to upgrade the existing information network to control narcotics trafficking, smuggling and other illegal transaction.

Mr Bhatti told APP here on Friday that the two sides have worked out a mechanism to deal with the certain legal issues, relating to the bilateral trade. This, he said will help to streamline the entire system of customs clearance.

“We have decided to make joint efforts to reduce custom offensives”, he added. The new measures will be enforced soon after their approval by their respective governments.

The proposed measures will also facilitate businessmen of the two countries boosting bilateral trade through legal means in accordance with the international custom laws.—APP
