KARACHI, March 7: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has issued directive for expeditious process of computerization of land revenue record.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting held at the Governor's House here on Monday in which the progress of Hawkesbay housing scheme and land record in the province came under consideration.

He stressed on outsourcing the computerization task and directed that the record should also be micro-filmed. On the occasion, the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project Director, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha briefed the governor about the pace of work on Hawkesbay housing scheme.

Ishratul Ibad also directed the city government to fully computerize its land record. He observed that because of double allotments in various schemes, the original allotees were facing inconvenience while land mafia was also taking advantage of the situation. He directed the revenue authorities to submit a comprehensive report within one month regarding computerization and outsourcing.

Reviewing the Hawkesbay scheme, the governor called for a physical presentation with regard to plots of the allottees in the first week of May. He said that the development charges should be determined on modern and scientific basis so that people could take possession of their plots after making payment.

Shafiqur Rehman Paracha expressed hope that physical possession could be given to over 15,000 allottees in May. He said that construction of approach roads from main Hawkesbay Road to various blocks was in progress. Besides, he said that the work on plantation and signboards was also going on.

Briefing about the pace of work in the residential blocks for journalists, Mr Paracha informed the meeting that 40, 60 and 100 feet wide internal roads, surface drains and internal sewerage system had been completed. He said that 60 per cent work on internal water supply had been completed and 50 per cent work on 100 and 150 feet wide roads had also been done.

Dr Ibad directed the officials concerned to expeditiously complete the master plan of Hawkesbay besides elimination of encroachments from the area. He said that implementation on a comprehensive master plan for the entire coastal belt from Bin Qasim to Hawkesbay would also be completed. -APP
