PESHAWAR, March 4: A services centre on the basis of health insurance has been established in the private sector for the first time in the NWFP. The town health centre has been established by Dr Mohammad Jalil Afridi.

He said during the inauguration ceremony of the centre on Friday that residents of Peshawar district and adjoining tribal areas would be able to avail themselves of the facility by getting membership of the service.

The centre is starting with two packages which deal with outpatients. Other packages involving hospitalization will be started after seeing the response of people. Dr Afridi said the centre would carry out routine medical check ups and refer cases to consultants for expert opinion. The centre would also help patients get medication at discounted rates, he said.
