ISLAMABAD, March 2: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and Industry have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Sweden , says a press release issued here on Wednesday by the ICCI.

ICCI President Tariq Sadiq said the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Sweden had shown an uneven trend. During the period 2001-2003, Swedish exports to Pakistan amounted to $513.4m, while imports from Pakistan stood at $605.6m. In the year 2003, exports from Sweden amounted to $4518.7m, while imports stood at $538.2m.

Exports from Sweden included engineering and telecommunication products, and imports from Pakistan were manufactured goods. The MoU will help expand bilateral trade through regular exchange of information on trade and commerce, exchange of trade missions, participation in trade fairs and trade-related business conferences and active interaction between business communities of the two countries. -APP
