KARACHI, Feb 27: ZTBL's young leg-spinner Mansoor Amjad grabbed two quick wickets in the closing overs of the first day to leave PIA struggling at 259 for six in the Patron's Trophy Pool 'A' match at the UBL Sports Complex on Sunday.

Mansoor, who toiled through 34 overs during the day, dismissed Faisal Iqbal (17) and PIA skipper Moin Khan (0) in the space of three balls to lead a fine comeback by the defending champions in this vital penultimate round fixture.

After electing to bat first on a slow track, PIA made a solid start with openers Kamran Sajid (45 off 90 balls, five fours) and veteran Ghulam Ali (67 off 158 balls, 10 fours) sharing a partnership of 90 in just over two hours.

Shoaib Khan then struck seven boundaries before falling caught behind off Imran Sabir for a 96-ball 60. PIA's hopes for a sizeable first innings total now rest with Bazid Khan Who is still at the crease with 21. The other not out batsman was all-rounder Janisar Khan (9) as Mansoor finished with four for 96.
