KARACHI, Feb 23: A policeman was shot dead by unknown persons in Osmanabad area of Lyari on Tuesday night. ASI Mohammad Riaz, 40, was standing with his friend Saleem in Osmanabad when unknown persons on two motorcycles pulled up and sprayed them with a volley of bullets.

Both the injured were rushed to Civil Hospital where Riaz succumbed to his wounds and Saleem was operated upon in the emergency operation theatre. Police said that Mohammad Riaz was posted at the Garden Headquarters.

Police are investigating the case, and suspect that the killing might be related to on-going gang-war in Lyari. Four persons have been killed in the renewed wave of killing in Lyari.
