PESHAWAR, Feb 23: The Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco), disconnected power supply to some 1,180 industrial and commercial consumers in North Waziristan and Khyber agencies, in Fata on Tuesday.

The move came in accordance with the company's recent drive against defaulters in Fata. According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, raids were conducted in several bazaars of North Waziristan and Khyber agencies to disconnect power supply to the defaulting consumers.

The power supply to some 620 industrial and commercial consumers were disconnected in Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan. The bazaars where disconnection drive was carried out include Quomi Market, General Bus Stand, New Flying Coach Adda, Sabzi Mandi and Haji Karim Khan Serai.

The operation was conducted by assistant manager operation TESCO, FATA sub division, Miranshah, in collaboration with the political authorities of the agency. In a similar operation conducted in parts of Khyber Agency, power connections of about 560 defaulting commercial consumers were disconnected.

The press release said that the markets disconnected in the agency are Haji Gul Nawab market, Momal market, Haji Muhammad Khan market, Haji Gul Nawab Market No.3 Sheikhan Road, Mian Abbas Market and Haji Gul Nawab Market No.4 besides a private tube well in the area.

A spokesman for Tesco said that the company had earlier stopped power supply to more than 3,000 commercial consumers in Bajaur Agency and 72 industries in Mulagori area of Khyber Agency.
