JWP opposes cantonments

SUKKUR, Feb 21: Jamhoori Watan Party leader Sardar Barahamdagh Bugti has opposed construction of cantonments in Balochistan. Talking to journalists in Jacobabad on Monday , he criticized the government for ignoring Balochistan Assembly's resolutions against construction of cantonments in the province.

He observed that after failure of democratic means to resolve an issue, resistance remained the last resort. He claimed that an army action could start in Dera Bugti any time, adding that no dialogues would be held in presence of armed forces in the area.

If the government was sincere in resolving the issue through a dialogue, it should withdraw from the area, he maintained. Answering a question about medical examination of an accused in the criminal assault case of a lady doctor in Sui, Captain Hamad, he said the test was carried out by the army.

He said though Captain Hamaad was under arrest but he was enjoying all facilities. He said after the Sui incident, President Gen Pervez Musharraf or Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had not contacted Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Answering another question, he said a report of the parliamentary committee, headed by Mushahid Hussain, had also been put under the carpet. He said the Baloch nation was against the army action in the province.
