KARACHI: Decomposed body found

KARACHI, Feb 19: The decomposed body of an unknown man was found along a storm-water drain in Hijrat Colony early Saturday morning.

Police said that the body was found in a gunny bag and it had decomposed to such an extent that its identification became impossible. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy and handed over to the Edhi foundation for burial as it could not be stored.

ROBBER KILLED: Police shot dead an alleged robber in Sohrab Goth in the small hours of Saturday. According to the police, four alleged robbers overpowered Muneer Ahmed in Ayub Goth and tried to snatch his truck (JLT-6921).

Someone informed the police, and shootout took place as the police reached the spot. Police also claimed to have recovered a Klashnikov rifle. However, three of his accomplices managed to flee. The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy and later it was kept at Edhi morgue for identification.

KILLED: A youth was shot dead in Nazimabad late Friday night when he put up resistance to robbers. Police said Kamran, 17, was intercepted by robbers, who snatched a mobile phone from him.

As Kamran put up resistance, the robbers shot him and fled, leaving him in a pool of blood. The police shifted the injured to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

SUICIDE: A jobless man committed suicide at his home in Khokhrapar on Saturday. Police said Afraz Khan, 40, a labourer, had been jobless for the past some months and remained disturbed.

He tried to get job but failed and in utter dejection, he hanged himself. The family found him hanging in the morning and informed the police, who did not find any foul-play. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family for burial.

ARRESTS: Police have arrested two alleged car jackers and recovered a stolen car, CNG kits, and spares from their possession. Airport police said they arrested Mohammad Azeem and Malik Mumtaz in a raid at Haji Natha Khan Goth and recovered a stolen car (ABM-889) snatched from Korangi Industrial Area. During interrogation, they led the police to their hideout where the police recovered stolen CNG kits, and spare parts which were retrieved from stolen vehicles.
