Pakistan name U-18 team

LAHORE, Feb 18: An 18-member Pakistan under-21 hockey team was announced after one-day trials at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday. The team will take part in a tournament to be held in Lahore from March 7 to 13.

The second event is being held in Kuala Lumpur from March 26 to April 3. The tournaments are being considered as preparations for World Cup to be held from June 30 to July 10 in the Netherlands. Nine standbys are also announced. They will report to the camp management on Feb 22.

TEAM:

GOALKEEPERS: Nasir Ahmad, Muhammad Iqbal.

FULL BACKS: Muhammad Imran, Imran Warsi, Mohammad Ikhlaq.

HALF BACKS: Imran Khan, Mohammad Khalid, Asim Khan, Sajjad Anwar, Rana Asif, Adnan Zakir.

FORWARDS: Kashif Yaqoob, Shakeel Abbasi, Tariq Aziz, Mohammad Akhtar, Yasir Islam, Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Ishtiaq.

STAND-BYES: Shakir Muneer, Farhan, Tariq Yameen, Muhammad Khaliq, Sami Ullah, Zubair, Shabbir, Naeem Akbar (Mahmood Ali subject to medical fitness).
