KARACHI, Feb 18: The Sindh Workers' Children Education Board is providing free education facilities to 30,000 children of workers in the province.

This was stated by Board's Secretary Ijaz Ahmed Beg while briefing Sindh Labour Minister Muhammad Adil Siddiqui on Friday.

Ijaz Ahmed said that steps were being taken to provide better education facilities to the children of workers. During the last two years, he said, the board had set up a girls' degree college at Kotri, besides upgrading the Model High School, Hyderabad, to intermediate level.

He said, "Steps were also being taken to set up new model schools at Larkana, Nooriabad, and New Karachi." Besides, the board had provided laboratory facilitates to its four model schools in Landhi, Korangi, Hyderabad and Kotri, he added.

The board's secretary further said that Rs120,000 and Rs50,000 were donated to the Dadu Sugar Mills High School, Piyaro Goth, and Star Public School, Mauripur, respectively. Nevertheless, three buses were arranged by the board fir schools in Sukkur and Hyderabad.

He said that education management councils and district committees had been established for the betterment of board's educational institutions in the province and also for their efficient monitoring. The minister lauded the performance of the board and asked it to take steps to raise the standard of education being provided to the children of workers. -PPI
