Meezan Mutual Fund gives 10pc dividend

KARACHI, Feb 18: The shareholders of Al-Meezan Mutual Fund Ltd (AMMF) will get an interim cash dividend of 10 per cent and interim bonus shares of 10 per cent plus 50 per cent right shares at par value for July-December 2004. But the bonus shares issued will not be entitled for right shares.

The AMMF board of directors took this decision at a meeting held here the other day. According to a press release, the AMFF earned Rs92.45 million income, including Rs19.67 million capital gains and Rs70.86 million of dividend income during six months ended in December last.

Its earnings per share rose to Rs2.24 from Rs1.64. The net asset value of the fund was Rs14.78 per share on December 31, 2004. The release says that Meezan Balanced Fund earned a net income of Rs21.67 million and its EPS was 18 paisa.

Meezan Islamic Fund earned a total income of Rs296.91 million for the period ended December 2004. The NAV of the Fund was Rs63.8 per unit at the end of December, up from Rs54.51 at the end of June 2004.
